Recreational Program FAQ

There are two seasons to a playing year, Fall and Spring. There are eight games in each season. The fall season runs September - November, and the spring season runs February - April.
Registration is open twice a year. Fall registration is open July- August and spring registration is open December- January.
Registration can be done online by clicking the REGISTER NOW tab on the website, coming in the office to register, or mailing in the printable form. If you want to register for the Full Year, select BOTH SEASONS when registering
Once registered, all players go into the "pool" of players in that grade. Our staff then goes in and manually places all players on teams. The placement process is the longest part of the registration period, so please allow 3-5 business days for your child to be placed.
Burbank: Pre-K- 12th Grade Central: Pre-K- 5th Grade Independence: Pre-K- 2nd Grade Zachary: Pre-K- 4th Grade *Varies by season due to number of players and teams.
A pool team is a team created by the BRSC staff made up of players not returning to a specific team. We use the placement preferences on your registration form to match players together. Once created, BRSC will reach out to the parents to find a coach for the team.
BRSC Recreational coaches are volunteer parents or players who have completed background checks. We offer a Raising Cane's Volunteer Coaching Certification before the start of the season. Once you have volunteered to coach, you will receive emails from the program director regarding dates for courses.
Once you have registered, you can log in to your Playmetrics account to check on the placement of your child. For help with this, please contact our Recreational Staff, Caleb Bush and Stanley Johnson. Due to the high volume of registration near the start of the season, it may take 3-4 business days for our staff to assign a player to a team. If you have not heard from your coach one week before the first game, please contact the BRSC office, phone 225-924-2157, for your player status.
Coaches typically schedule practices near the school the players are from or in the neighborhood where the majority of the kids live. All BREC parks are open for use by our soccer teams. Also, you may contact local schools to get permission to practice in their facilities, which can be covered by our insurance at your request. Please contact the office for insurance information. For a map of all BREC Parks, please click here. Coaches can request practice times and locations using the practice request forms on our Coach's Corner page.
While each team's coach determines the team's practice schedule, BRSC recommends the following plan for practices: • Pre-K - 2nd grade: Practice once per week for 45 minutes to 1 hour. • 3rd - 6th grade: Practice up to twice per week from 1 hour to 1 ½ hours. • 7th grade and older: Practice twice per week for 1 ½ hours.
Each coach determines when their team will start practice. The coach will notify his/her players via email or phone and let them know of the start date. Typically the teams start practicing one week prior to the season.
Games schedules are posted on our website here. We encourage you to download the app to stay up to date with schedule changes and communication.
Only team coaches are allowed to reschedule games. Please follow the Cancellation/Reschedule instructions here on the Coach's Corner page.
Pre-K through 6th grade: Players are required to wear the BRSC Red & White Adidas Uniforms which are purchased through Third Coast Soccer 8342 Perkins Rd Baton Rouge, LA 70810 225-927-0171
The BRSC Recreational Director of Coaching has put together practice plans for coaches to use for every week of the recreational season. The practice sessions for each age group are available on the Coaching Info and Training Tips page.
• Pre-K – 2nd Grade: Size 3 • 3rd – 6th Grade: Size 4 • 7th Grade and older: Size 5
The home team listed on the schedule will wear the white BRSC top. Away teams will wear the red jersey. BRSC recommends players arrive with both jersey colors in case of a mix up or in instance the opposing team needs to borrow a player.
The BRSC Recreational League refund policy can be found here.
