Competitive Player Placement Process
Players interested in participating in the BRSC Competitive Program will attend a two-day Player Placement Process (PPP). Through this identification program, BRSC coaches evaluate players to better group players based on ability. The PPP also allows the club to assess the entire age group and arrange staff needs for the upcoming season/year.
Players are issued a number at registration. As the athletes go through a training progression, our staff will evaluate their performance relative to the five components of soccer. These include: Technical Ability, Technical Speed, Tactical Application, Physical Attributes, and Psychological Dimentions.
If you have questions about the Player Placement Process or are interested in joining the BRSC Competitive Program, please contact Kevin Hoeprich.
TENTATIVE 2026/27 PLAYER PLACEMENT PROCESS
For the 2026/27 season, US Youth Soccer (USYS), American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), and US Club – have agreed to adopt an age group formation cycle running from August 1 to July 31, beginning with each Organization Member’s 2026-2027 season/registration year. This change is reflected in the Player Placement Process chart below.
An email of player placement will arrive with a request to decline or accept the assignment. Players must agree and pay the registration and team fees before placement is finalized. Per LSA policy, BRSC must withhold team invitations for a specified timeline.
Questions? Contact Marvin Smith and Kevin Hoeprich.
U10 - U12 BRSC Competitive invites will be sent out on Friday, April 24.

Competitive Player Placement Process Format
The Player Placement Process includes activities that are soccer-specific and realistic. While the PPP sessions vary by year and age group, the following example formats can be helpful for players new to the process.
Each player must bring a ball, a refillable water bottle, and dress appropriately (e.g., shin guards, shorts, socks). Check-in for the event will take place 30 minutes prior to each session. Each player will receive a BRSC T-shirt to be worn both nights.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING AT DURING PLAYER PLACEMENT
Technical Ability – skill proficiency
Technical Speed – ability to execute skill at top speed
Tactical Application – understanding of time and space, movement with and without the ball, field vision, ability to combine with other players, speed of thought, etc.
Physical Attributes – speed, strength on the ball (tackling & shielding ball)
Psychological Dimensions – competitiveness, work ethic, interaction with teammates, coachability, etc.
BRSC coaches assess each player and assign a number 1-6 to correspond with our team colors and small-sided fields. Players/teams are created based on the overall rating and the coach’s comments.
