Referee of the Week – Nick Malokofsky 2/23/20

As a U.S. Navy Helicopter Pilot, Nick is as prepared as they come on the pitch. Nick played collegiately at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, CA, and staying connected to the game. His best moment on the pitch came when he was able to ref a game with his two children. We’d like to thank Nick for his service in the Navy and for the game we love!

You’re in good hands when Shane is in the pitch! As an Allstate Insurance Agent, he understands the need for safety. Shane enjoys the experience refereeing provides. “It gives me the opportunity to be a helper to coaches and players to better understand the game of soccer. I also referee because I enjoy meeting great referees, amateur and professional, and learning from them. Refereeing is a gift, and it is actually very fun.”

Why do you referee?
I referee because it gives me the opportunity to be a helper to coaches and players to better understand the game of soccer. I also referee because I enjoy meeting great referees, amateur and professional, and learning from them. Refereeing is a gift and it is actually very fun.

Best moment as a referee:
My best moment was when I refereed a U15 game in Alabama. After the game, the parents came to me and told me that they had never had a referee that had encouraged their sons so much and that they very much appreciated my professionalism and Interest in making sure it was a fun experience for their children and coaches. They hoped to have me on the field again for their teams.

We can’t play the game we love without the valuable guidance and assistance referees provide. For the week of February 9, 2020, we’d like to recognize Travis Johnson for his work on the pitch. Travis’ most memorable moment as a referee came when he attended ODP. It was a big moment for Travis because it gave him a chance to meet some incredible refs from around the country. Thank you for all that you do to support this game!
