Meet the Coaches of the BRSC Summer Indoor Academy
This summer, young players will have the opportunity to train, compete, and grow their love for the game at the Baton Rouge Soccer Club Summer Indoor Academy.
Open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th Grade, the 6-week program is designed to help players build confidence and improve their skills in a fun, energetic, and supportive environment. Training sessions will focus on technical development, fundamentals, and small-sided gameplay, all inside our air-conditioned indoor facility, so players can stay active rain or shine.
Leading the way this summer is an experienced coaching staff dedicated to helping every player enjoy the game while continuing to develop on and off the field.
Meet the Coaches
Andy Smothermon | Summer Program Director
Coach Andy brings decades of playing, coaching, and teaching experience to the Summer Indoor Academy.
Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Andy played club and high school soccer before continuing his collegiate career at Glendale Community College and Francis Marion University. He later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education & Promotion from Northern Arizona University. Following college, he competed in the PDL and USISL leagues with the Arizona Cotton, Phoenix Hearts, and Arizona Saguaros.
His coaching background includes time with clubs in Phoenix and New Orleans, along with ten years serving as a staff coach for Carrollton Soccer Association and Chicago Fire Juniors Soccer Club.
Coach Andy also spent twelve years as a Physical Education teacher and coach at Trinity Episcopal School, where he led teams to numerous league championships and runner-up finishes. In addition to coaching school teams, he also directed and instructed summer soccer camps, making him a perfect fit to lead this year’s Summer Indoor Academy.
Logan Carriere
Coach Logan brings a strong local soccer background and a passion for player development to the BRSC coaching staff.
He played club soccer with Cajun Soccer Club (now Krewe Rush) from 2008-2016 and was a member of the Louisiana ODP 1997 team. Logan also competed for Acadiana High School before continuing his playing career with the ULL Men’s Club Team, where he later served as team president.
On the coaching side, Logan holds a US Soccer D License and currently coaches within multiple programs across the Baton Rouge area. He joined BRSC in 2024 and also serves as a coach for Denham Springs Boys JV and UHigh 6th Grade Boys. In addition, Logan will serve as an assistant coach for the BRSC Capitals during the 2026 season and joins the Louisiana ODP staff beginning this summer.
His energy, experience, and passion for teaching the game make him an exciting part of the Summer Indoor Academy coaching staff.
