FIFA 11+: A Smarter Warm-Up for Soccer Players

FIFA 11

Performance and injury prevention go hand in hand. At BRSC, developing players means more than improving technical and tactical skills. We also want to help players build the movement, strength, balance and coordination habits that can help keep them healthy and available to train and compete.

That’s why BRSC encourages age-appropriate FIFA warm-up and injury-prevention programs as part of our teams’ training routines.

FIFA 11+ Kids: Building Good Habits Early

For younger players, FIFA 11+ Kids was developed specifically as a youth-oriented injury-prevention program. FIFA introduced the program as an adaptation of its FIFA 11+ approach for children.

The program uses age-appropriate activities to develop things like balance, coordination, agility, strength and movement control, while getting players ready to play.

For young players, the goal isn’t simply to “warm up.” It’s to make good movement habits part of their soccer experience from an early age.

FIFA 11+: Preparing Players 14 and Up

For players 14 and older, FIFA recommends the FIFA 11+ injury-prevention program. FIFA describes it as a comprehensive program developed by an international group of experts.

Rather than relying on jogging and static stretching alone, FIFA 11+ incorporates exercises focused on strength, balance, coordination, movement quality and soccer-specific preparation.

The program is designed to be incorporated regularly into training, making injury prevention part of the team’s normal routine rather than something addressed only after an injury occurs.

FIFA 11+: A Complete Warm Up Program

Whether a player is just beginning their soccer journey or competing at a high level, preparing the body for training and competition is an important part of development.

At BRSC, we want players to develop skills that extend beyond what they do with the ball. Building strength, balance, coordination and proper movement patterns can help players become more prepared athletes while creating habits they can carry throughout their soccer careers.

The key is simple. Begin age-appropriate practice, stay consistent, and include a quality warm-up in each training.
