Coach Craig Looking to Grow Caps on and off the Pitch
As the BRSC Capitals prepare for the 2024 campaign, a couple of familiar faces will be patrolling the sideline. Coach Craig Scott returns for his second year as head man of the Caps.
Year one under Coach Craig showed promise over the previous season with an influx of young talent that helped support the Capitals’ veteran-laden squad. The task for year two is to bridge the gap in the roster by bringing in more players from the college ranks.
Coach Craig understands the challenges ahead and has been working diligently during the break to help bolster his roster. “I am super proud and excited to have the opportunity to lead YOUR Capitals again this year,” said Scott. “It was a thrilling first year with lots of learning opportunities. We’ve already started to add and build our roster with more experienced players while maintaining the pathway for our younger talent.”
Coach Richard Rollins returns for his third year with the Capitals directing the goalkeepers. Several young keepers received their first taste of Gulf Coast Premier League play for Coach Rollins and the Caps. His objective for the upcoming season is to help stabilize the position to withstand the rigors of a tough GCPL Western Conference. Coach Rollins is anxious to get started to help improve the Caps’ goal differential heading into the season. “I am looking forward to another year of growth with the Capitals programming both in terms of development and success for the players and the team,” said Rollins.
Heading into the 2024 campaign, Coach Craig expects the conference to be stronger as everyone looks to catch up to Division Winners Southern States SC. “The challenge in this league is immense and tough; we expect everyone to bring a higher level again; we will embrace the challenge as one team,” said Scott.
Support from the fans and sponsors is another critical component the Capitals will look to cultivate heading into the new season. Now that he is more acclimated with the town and community, Coach Craig is looking to make strides for the squad in the community. “Growing on the field is not my only focus, we are aiming to grow local connections and help grow together. We are looking for sponsors who are passionate about the game, and who see an opportunity to be involved with a local community that wants to develop talent for the future,” said Scott.

“Everyone knows that we play for the city, the shirt, but more importantly, we play for our Fans. We appreciated your support last season. As we grow and move forward, we need you with us! We intend to repay your loyalty and support on and off the field. Help us grow together,” remarked Scott.
