BRSC Competitive Update 5/18

Dear Competitive Family,

I want to thank you for your patience and understanding in waiting for information on return to play and more specifically summer training and player placement (tryout) timelines. In response to the Governor’s reopening Louisiana guidelines, LSA has released updated information for clubs to move forward with planning. There are some documents still currently being worked on and will be made available later this week.

BRSC Summer Training

We will provide our spring season delay and deliver training this summer from June 8 – July 23. Players will have the opportunity to train on a voluntary basis with their current team during this period.   Your coach or manager will notify you of your team’s schedule, which you can also access our summer training master schedule on our website. Please know every effort was made to keep teams training on the same days as their spring schedule. However, in order to accommodate three time slots your times may have been adjusted 15-30 minutes.  Our “Open Door” training policy will be suspended during this time and players are only allowed to train with their current team.

BRSC Return To Play Handbook and Video

The BRSC Return To Play Handbook will provide our detailed plan to first and foremost safeguard the health and well being of our players and staff. It also defines the responsibilities and expectations of players, parents, and staff, social distancing on and off the field, etc. Please make sure to review this document in its entirety. Our staff is currently producing a video that outlines the safety precautions all parents, players, and coaches will follow for the summer training.  It will be published on all BRSC communication platforms (website, Facebook, YouTube & Instagram) the week of May 24th.

BRSC Survey

Your feedback is an integral part of our decision-making process in many aspects of our program. To this end, we ask that you take a moment to participate in our competitive program survey (below). Your responses will be particularly helpful with planning for player placement, league participation, staff assignments, etc.

Please contact Kay Briggs to receive the link to the survey if you did not receive the email.

Player Placement Process

In response to the updated guidelines for reopening portions of our state, LSA has announced the revised tryout period for June 19 – 29. With only 10 days to conduct tryouts, our player placement will look different from the usual process. We will announce the specifics of our player placement soon.

Please continue to frequent our website and Facebook page for the most recent updates. As usual, we welcome your feedback, suggestions, and questions, so please do not hesitate to contact me at msmith@brsoccer.org or 225-266-1395 or Kay Briggs at kbriggs@brsoccer.org or 919-417-4073.

Meanwhile, please let’s all continue to be good citizens in taking every precaution and making good decisions with the general public health in mind, as we deal with the changes in our daily lives due to this pandemic.

Looking forward to seeing out on the soccer fields very soon!!!

Best regards,

Marvin Smith
